Parichay, a collaborative legal aid clinic set up by law schools in India, is inviting applications for online volunteering opportunity, for students with interest and experience in designing and arts.
About the Organizer
Parichay is a collaborative legal aid clinic set up by law schools in India, to assist persons excluded from the National Register of Citizens in Assam. Persons excluded from the NRC in Assam have the right to file appeals before the Foreigners Tribunals against their exclusion. Parichay works with lawyers and paralegals to assist them through the appeals process. We also engage in documentation and research to generate greater understanding of citizenship laws in India.
The Opportunity
Parichay’s blog will solicit and publish scholarly writing, interviews, essays, and short explainers on issues relating to citizenship in India and the Global South. A newsletter will be sent with periodic updates on the latest news on citizenship and allied issues from around the globe.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Contribute and curate images and illustrations for the Parichay blog.
- Design a monthly newsletter.
- Maintain the Parichay website and blog.
Volunteers will be credited for their work on the site.
Who is it for?
- Must commit to volunteering with Parichay for at least three months.
- Should be familiar with design software (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, GIMP, Illustrator, etc.)
- Can start work immediately i.e. in March 2021.
- Knowledge of UI/UX and/or web development is an advantage.
- We invite applications from students with design experience, and/or pursuing a minimum of an undergraduate art/design-related course (e.g. Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Design, Bachelors in Visual Arts, etc.)
